Ruhr area as a creative host

Description: Reflection on the project idea, highlighting the creative potential of European Capitals of Culture. A brief outline of the TraCEs project and presentation of the Game of Traces platform, retrieving experiences and opportunities, in particular from cultural and creative actors involved in the project. We want to encourage people to think outside the box and develop new concepts, give motivation for creative protagonists and tourism providers to enter into a new alliance and continue the exchange that has begun.

ECoC as labs for Creative Industries: a talk on policies, infrastructures and capacity building.

Description: European Capitals of Culture have become centers for innovation and experimentation for culture and creativity. Big investments and long-term strategies able to promote local development through culture. But how is the ECoC program supporting the development of creative industries in Europe? A talk with representatives from ECoC ecosystems to discuss policies, infrastructures and capacity building programs that helped or will help the sector to grow.

Transformative tourism across ECoC, everything that has been done in the past 21 months with the focus on the City of Rijeka

Description: 8 partners from 6 different countries have come together to propose a new tourism model created by collaboration between traditional operators and creative professionals who can create transformative real-life experiences from the community hosting visitors with reinforcing the concept of the tourist as a temporary citizen rather than a holidaymaker. TraCEs brings all this together by putting forward a new way of traveling to European Capitals of Culture. The execution of the project was highly affected by COVID-19. Still, the enthusiasm of each of the project partners and other stakeholders involved have resulted in creating a new and unique way of thinking about travelling with aim of creating long term connectivity of the traveller and place of visit. We invite you to hear more about what has been done in the past 21 months with the focus of a current ECoC Rijeka 2020.

Transformative travel across ECoCs. From co-creation to experience realization

Description: Tourism, culture, creation and eagerness to innovate have been the key to the success of TraCEs Co-Creation TLabs. 5 workshops in 5 European cities have welcomed the new initiative of Culture is Capital, a meeting point between professionals in the tourism sector and the Creative and Cultural Industries (CCIs) of each city to generate new tourism experiences. A pilot event that opens the door to an interesting path for the co-creation of new transformative travel experiences. Following the Tlabs organized and run in Burgos, Matera, Rijeka, Kosice and Gelsenkirchen, different Transformative Experiences that cater towards the ECoCs visitors have been created. The Transformative Experiences see not only an onsite hands-on experience but as well an online one thanks to the web platform Game of TraCEs, where the user is able to discover all the Transformative Experiences offered in the different ECoCs and can as well set up her/his own online cultural passport. The panelists will discuss and present the entire process of creating, setting up, testing and promoting a Transformative Experience in the European Capitals of Culture.
